Being a Witch in the Workplace

You can easily and subtly turn your workspace or desktop into a place where you can connect with your spirit and Gods. I realize that you may not want to festoon your desk with Pentacles, tarot cards and crystal balls so here are a few ideas that can be incorporated without screaming "look at me, I'm a witch".

First thing in the morning while you're seated at your desk, maybe over your morning coffee while you're settling in for the day practice a simple shielding exercise. Everyone can do this exercise as all it requires is that you're still breathing. As you inhale imagine energy and strength pouring into your body with the air. As you exhale, imagine your expelled breath as a golden mist. As you continue to breathe in and out visualize this mist becoming a warm, protective sphere around you, growing larger with each exhalation.

Please note that I'm using the word "desk" as an example, professional drivers can do this in their vehicles, cooks in their kitchen, etc. Wherever you happen to be, take a minute or two to sit or stand still and protect yourself. If anyone asks what you're doing you can say that you're trying to wake up or going over a list of things in your head, or taking a moment or two to compose your thoughts. Over time your desk/workspace will accumulate a warm fuzzy aura that will make you and others feel comfortable, safe and secure.

STEALTH WATER AND SALT BLESSING

All you need for this is water and salt. If you have the time or the means you could use spring water and sea salt, but regular old tap water and a condiment package of salt from the lunchroom will work just fine.

Begin by summoning your golden - mist shield, add a pinch of salt to the water and bless it briefly by saying something like "Mother Goddess and Father God, bless this water and salt and make them holy" Dip your finger into the saltwater and draw a circle around the area you wish to protect. With a desk, you can drag your finger around the edges or you can mark an area around your chair or workspace. You can also draw invisible runes or protective signs on and around your workspace.

STEALTH POTPOURRI PROTECTION

Potpourri is popular and common everywhere so why not concoct a magickal potpourri of protection to place on your desk or workspace? All you need to do is find a pretty container and fill it with herbs, flower petals and some essential oils. Be sure to seal your intention by concentrating on the protective qualities of each herb and oil that you place in your container.

Herbs and flowers for protection could include:
African Violet
Anise
Basil
Carnation
Cinnamon
Eucalyptus
Foxglove
Geranium
Ivy
Lavender

Peony
Rose
Sage

STEALTH ALTARS - If you have a defined workstation such as a desk, cubicle or office you can make it into a spiritual sanctuary.

If you have an office you could hang pictures representing the Elements on each wall. A landscape for Earth/North, a bird in flight for Air/East, a seascape for Water/West, and a picture of a volcano or a hot sunny day for Fire/South, use your imagination!

On your desk, you could place a stone, bird feather, seashell and piece of charcoal. Use any items that resonate with you to represent the four directions and elements.

A picture or postcard of a Goddess/God-image, Solar Disc, Celtic Cross, or whatever has personal spiritual meaning to you, could also be placed discreetly on your desk.

A small wooden wand or stang could easily live in your pencil holder, and if you have a desk protector you could draw or paste a picture of a Pentacle on the underside.

Once you have everything in place Consecrate your space with Stealth Water and Salt, bless it and perform the daily shielding exercise. Soon your workspace will feel like an oasis of serenity and you will be able to connect with your Spirit at work.
